AREAS OF EXPERTISE
Geoff’s practice at SIMPSONWIGLE LAW focuses on both workplace law, including employment law, labour law and human rights as well as general commercial litigation.
Geoff represents employers and employees at all stages of the employment relationship including the pre-employment phase, hiring, disciplinary matters and discharge matters. He also advises clients regarding regulatory matters and assists clients in drafting employment contracts and workplace policies.
Geoff is also well versed in general commercial litigation and represents clients in a wide range of matters including contract disputes, collection matters, shareholder disputes and construction. His litigation experience includes appearances in Small Claims Court, the Superior Court of Justice, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Landlord and Tennant Board.
Geoff completed his articles with a boutique civil litigation firm in Hamilton and joined SIMPSONWIGLE LAW as an associate after being called to the bar in 2016.
A CLIENT-BASED APPROACH
"I believe in a measured, client-based approach to my practice. When I work with my clients, I present all the options on the table. Then, my counsel is always reflective of what the client values and ultimately, what they need. My priority is to consider what action and outcome will serve them best."
WHAT SETS GEOFF APART
"I believe a good and lasting law practice isn't run by ego. I don't have to litigate or end up in court. I want to know what the client wants to get out of their case, explain the options and do what's best for them. That's how the file will be run."
THE BEST PART OF THE JOB
"Simply put: getting a good result for my client. If I generate a good result AND my client walks away happy, that's a win for me."
