John Loukidelis is a partner in the firm and restricts his practice to tax law. He is considered one of the very few lawyers in the Golden Horseshoe with the experience and expertise to handle high-end sophisticated tax matters. John provides counsel to accountants, business owners and senior corporate managers and has a successful track record in advising registered charities and other not-for-profit organizations. John's courtroom experience includes dealing with complex tax litigation on behalf of public and private corporations, and he is well supported by a deep litigation group at the firm.
Because he is business savvy and realistic, John has a reputation for providing understandable, workable advice, not theoretical or academic counsel that can bog down the business process.
Prior to joining Simpson Wigle, John gained years of tax law experience at two of Canada 's premiere law firms and subsequently worked as a senior tax manager in a national chartered accounting firm.
When working with accountants, John preserves a shared client service responsibility. He provides advice that is right the first time, with good turnaround and good ongoing communication. When required, he can provide detailed opinions on technical matters that present a realistic risk assessment while remaining accessible and useable by all concerned (see further details).
John has written numerous articles for various publications and delivered many speeches for professional organizations including the
Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association. He also maintains a blog on tax topics of interest to owner-managed businesses and their advisers.
